I used to wear slippers wherever I went. University life was not so restrictive as to what I could wear as long as I was comfortable. I was very comfortable with my slippers that I end up wearing it to the mall, to the movies, to the parties, and to practically anything that would not possibly endanger my feet from getting severely damaged.

Times changed, however, and the corporate life led me on to believe that proper grooming is important, and this includes the choice of footwear. Though I still wear my slippers to the mall, the usage became less and less as I wore my leather shoes and my rubber shoes more frequently. Work and longer trips mean that I have to wear something that covers my feet. They look more formal, yes, and they are safer to have around than footwear that exposes your toes. However, I'm not sure if they are the most comfortable options around.

Then the other day I went to the beach with my rubber shoes. I already arrived there in my slippers but I still had to carry around my heavy rubber shoes because I wore it during the trip. It was such a hassle to wear that kind of footwear around when you are on vacation. With my slippers, my feet were always dirtied by the sands but I did not care that much because I felt free with it.

That's probably one of the things that I like about wearing slippers. It makes me feel wild, young, and liberated. I felt oblivious to the rules that most of the yuppie world try to impose on people like me. Wearing slippers around somehow reminded me of my younger years when I am free to do as much as I please with little need to care about useless rules that society creates for us to follow.

Many adults long for their younger years for varying reasons. The truth is we can all be as young as we please. Sometimes all it takes are is a simple action just like wearing your favorite pair of slippers.
